Stimulus Check Update 10-27-20: Still Hope Of New Stimulus Package Before Election! Fire Congress?

Here’s your daily stimulus check, your second stimulus check, your executive action, order, memorandums, moratoriums and stimulus package update for Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 (10-27-20).

Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu had some extremely harsh words for every single member of Congress for their inability to pass a Phase 4 disaster relief bill.

Speaking on CNBC recently, Sununu stated: “Fire them all. I really mean that sincerely. No one in the Senate or Congress can say that they’ve shown leadership on the crisis. What have they done since March? Like literally nothing.”

Wow, a politician that finally gets it!

He continued: “Put it this way: Would the country be better or worse off if you replaced all 535 today? I think the odds say we’d probably be a little better because you get the political nonsense out of the picture, all of the things that have just clogged the system up so badly.”

Sununu closed by saying: “I think the people of America are sick and tired of nothing. You’ve got to manage. You’ve got to move the ball forward. You have to show leadership in something,” he said. “They’ve done virtually nothing.”

I completely agree with the New Hampshire governor, as both sides have done more name calling and mud slinging than actual work on another stimulus package.

Meanwhile, right before the planned meeting with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin yesterday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote a strongly worded letter to her fellow House Democrats, explaining the inaction of the other side of the aisle.

Pelosi explained: “The Republicans’ continued surrender to the virus — particularly amid the recent wave of cases — is official malfeasance.”

With the election now just a week away, it’s looking less likely that a new stimulus package could be approved before next week.

Fortunately, Pelosi says that she will keep working towards a resolution, stating: “We must come to agreement as soon as possible.”

I sure hope y’all can finally agree to terms on the highly anticipated Phase 4 disaster relief bill, I mean, it’s only been like 6 months that you’ve been working on it.

Finally, Steven Mnuchin and Nancy Pelosi spoke for nearly an hour yesterday, with Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hamill describing that both sides “remain optimistic” about approving a stimulus bill before Tuesday’s election.

He explained in a Tweet: "We are hopeful their response will be positive as we also await the outcomes of talks between committee chairs."

Hamill continued: "It is clear that our progress depends on Leader McConnell agreeing to bipartisan, comprehensive legislation to crush the virus, honor our heroes – our essential workers – and put money in the pockets of the American people.

He closed his message by stating: “The Speaker remains optimistic that an agreement can be reached before the election."

I sure hope that Pelosi and Mnuchin can agree to something soon, as the election is just 7 days away and millions of Americans still need stimulus funds badly.
