John Howard’s record ‘embarrasses’ predecessors and ‘outshines’ successors

Former prime minister Tony Abbott wrote “superbly” about the Howard Government’s successes, according to Sky News host Alan Jones.

“Of course, he has written from the perspective of being a member of that government,” Mr Jones said.

“He touched on issues which are rarely debated and therefore, disappointingly, ignored.”

Tony Abbott “appropriately” argued that “the next generation has to accept that the Howard Government did better than us, and to work out why it succeeded so our public life can be better from now on”.

Mr Jones commented one of the “truisms” in life, politics, and sports is that “you can only learn if you have the modesty to accept the advice of others”.
